National Campaign Coordination Commission : Members Evaluate First four days

Meeting for the first time since the launching of the campaign on 22 September 2018, they discussed the process
so far described as being on good footing in all ten regions.

It was under the auspices of Jean Nkuété, President of the National Campaign Coordination Commission that its members met at the Party headquarters on Tuesday 25 September 2018. Representatives from the other sub-commissions including those in charge of communication, logistics, electoral disputes and campaign material met to discuss the road covered in four days, analyze echoes from the terrain and chart the way forward. Being its first evaluation meeting, the members of the commission were mindful of their mission during this campaign period which aims at assuring the victory of candidate Paul Biya.

So far, the terrain has been booming with activity as the various candidates vying for the presidency have been meeting with the electorate on different platforms, presenting their programs in a bid to woo as Jacques Fame Ndongo, chairperson of the Communication sub-commission put it, the Party is serene; going about its campaign as per the directives of the National President Paul Biya. According to him “we are doing a sort of complimentary campaign on the field, on huge plat forms but as well, giving priority to proximity. By this I mean door-todoor”. Understanding the spectacle being put up by the party’s rivals on the field, Fame Ndongo further explained that “there is a political market out there which we have to conquer. This is why our teams on the field are there to sell our program just like the other candidates are doing.” Despite the competition, CPDM teams as per the directives dished out during campaigns are working in respect of the others because we are in a democracy. Nonetheless, the Party’s hierarchy remains optimistic that the strategies being implemented on the field including the digital campaign are geared towards recording huge successes. The door-to-door approach as insisted by the Party chairman is for sure the best means to better reach out to the electorate and maximize the chances of CPDM’s victory on the eve of October 7.
