Maroua and Paul Biya : Renewed Confidence

The communion was at its top as militants of the CPDM and its allied par ties turned out en masse to reiterate their support to the man of the people, Paul Biya.

Maroua, head quarter of the Far North region riveted all attention last September 29 as it welcomed Paul Biya in what could be likened to a triumphant entry. Accompanied by First Lady Chantal Biya radiant in a sewn-to-fit attire of the Party fabric, the presidential couple stirred the masses from their nooks and crannies right from the Maroua Salak airport to the Yaya Dahirou stadium. Considered as Cameroon’s most beautiful region, the Far North has once again been given pride of place by the Head of State as first stop for his campaigns.

The sea of people at the stadium attested to the love the militants and supporters have always had for their president reason why through the voice of the city government delegate Bakari Robert, expressed their commitment to the “untiring builder” promising to keep their own part of the bargain and vote massively for him on October 7. Here is history repeating itself with Paul Biya noted to have visited the region in 1992, 1998, 2004, 2011 and now 2018 for the same purpose. Reconnect with his electorate which according to Elecam statistics has the highest number of registered voters- some 3.5million. It is thus no coincidence that the president and chairman of the CPDM chose to start with this region, the population of which has shown him in past years that they rely on his visionary statesmanship to ferry Cameroon across the murky waters of numerous crisis unto the promise land. As expected, Paul Biya received quite an ovation when he addressed the people to whom he made no outlandish promises but took the commitment to continue what has already been set afoot to ensure a brighter future for Cameroonians. Renewed confidence indeed, after the struggle by government through the instructions of the Head of State to contain the Boko haram situation, which according to many political pundits would have jeopardised the love affair between this people and their president. CPDM and its allied parties are standing tall in this highly populated region, ready to counter the ploys of adversaries and record the desired victory. The story of a people determined to vote Paul Biya come rain come shine is still being written in the Far North region and Biya’s presence will definitely have a boomerang effect in the days ahead as the various campaign teams continue with popular rallies and door-to-door meetings.
