Paul Biya : Guarantor of Women and Youths Success

CPDM’s candidate, President Biya reassures the women and youths that they will more than ever before be given their rightful place in society.

Known for his soft spot for this segment of the population, Paul Biya in his Manifesto maintains that he will do even more to enhance their role. He promises to give them their “rightful place in society”, emphasizing that this “will not be done on account of their demographic strength but also considering their vitality”. Paul Biya who is a pragmatic person pledges to “speed up the process of institutionalizing gender parity”. The place the Cameroonian woman now occupies in the society is quiet enviable in that she is no longer restricted to child bearing and the kitchen thanks to Paul Biya. She has become a nation builder alongside her male counterpart. The woman occupies positions of authority. That which had hitherto been reserved for men Paul Biya has made it the domain of the woman. Today she proudly says “what a man can do a woman can do and even better”.

The Cameroon youth represents the future, and Paul Biya has always reminded them to run with the changing world. He preaches by example to call to mind the one student one laptop exercise in the universities of Cameroon. By this Paul Biya wants to raise awareness in his youths that times have evolved and they must not be left behind. He promises to strengthen the mainstreaming of the needs of women and youths in sector- specific public policies. He says he will “improve the level of participation of women and youths in political economic, social and cultural life”. No one doubts the importance of education in today’s world. In this light Paul Biya plans to “improve the planning of education and learning, in line with the needs of the changing world,

The challenges that are cropping up in some parts of the country have been leading to the exclusion of some Cameroonians. He is not ignorant of this; he holds that “despite the efforts already made to place the fight against exclusion at the centre of government’s action, more needs to be done”. By this he will “ensure that vulnerable segments of the population are systematically taken into account in the implementation of public policies and in the functioning of institutions”. Notwithstanding the “increase state support to private initiatives to assist the most underpriviledged groups and population segments with disabilities”. He also plans to “step up the fight against child abandonment and care for street children”. Paul Biya will ensure income stability to the most underprivileged; promote equal opportunities for all without discrimination on grounds of sex, religion, language or ethnicity. All of this will be done by increasing the budget allocated for the ministry in charge of social affairs to ensure greater efficiency of its action. Medical care will also be improved for parents suffering with rare diseases and a lot more.
